Unclaimed

I’ll never forget nor regret the shame.
The pawn I was made, the girl you had played.
In the bed where I lay, I’m never the same;
I know you’re to blame, but I so loved the game.

Eternal flame, a tether, a chain—
My lips, your name, in springtime rain.
The soul you had slain, your callous raid;
A light you let fade, a heart left unclaimed.
